How does Crates make money?
I'd like to know how Crates makes money, since there doesn't seem to be any subscription or license available. Is it free forever? If so, why? How is it funded? How is the data used?

Youtube playlist made of your Cart/Hold Bin
It would be great to automatically search for full-length preview for the next track instead of pressing each time "F".
Probably it can be a separate playlist on Youtube.

Add filtering & sorting inside your "Hold Bin" & "Cart".
Now it is available only in "My Beatport" which is good but when there are hundreds of tracks inside your Hold Bin...well that would be great to filter them as well.
6 votesDefinitely something that’d be good to add! Will keep it in mind and see if other users also vote on the idea. Thanks for submitting!

Genre on collection view
When viewing a crate, perhaps I'm missing it, but It would be handy to add a genre column to the colleciton list. If possible, linking this to the genre pages on beatport in case I wanted to view other recent artists of that genre on the beatport site
14 votesHi Sean! We don’t currently have a genre column on Crates or a way to browse by genre. This is something we’ll definitely explore adding in the future, but it’s not a top priority at the moment.
Genres are a bit messy on Beatport and we made a conscious decision to exclude them from Crates. I agree it’s a useful way to find new music, though, and we’ll see what we can do about supporting them in the near future.

Show My Dowloads as a Crate
I often return to my downloads in beatport to see what charts they have been included on since I purchased a new track. It would be great to be able to do this in Crates, as well as to be able 'dig deeper' a few weeks/months on.
Are purchased tracks / my downloads available via the API?
1 voteGreat idea, Dan! This is something we’ve been thinking about, too. We’re waiting on a big API update from Beatport, though – after that we hopefully can look into it.

Territory Options
As someone who lives in the UK, some tracks are showing that aren't available to me, and vice versa. Not to mention everything is in dollars and not pound sterling. An option to choose which territory you're in would be great!

Pick up where you left off
Instead of starting from page 1 every time I log in, I would love a way to bookmark where I left off so I don't have to keep searching?

Add a search to find collaborations between artists
For example I'd like to be able to search on Royskopp and then add a second filter of Robyn so that I can see all tracks that they've done together. I believe the old Beatport had that ability to do this. I haven't ever used the new Beatport so I'm not sure if it does this or not. But it's something I find myself wanting frequently. THANKS!

Integrate with other DJ download APIs such as Juno and any others that exist
How awesome would this be? If we could browse all of the various websites... AT THE SAME TIME.?! No? Huh? Seriously! I can help with this if you like.

Can we add UNDO for when removing a cart item?
I swear this existed before? Maybe it just isn't working for me right now? When I delete an item from a custom cart it's just gone. Into the ether. This is the desired effect except I accidentally clicked the wrong delete and now I don't know what I lost. Doh! It would be nice if it could bring up a little notice saying "[Track Name] Deleted! Undo?" and a if you click it then it brings it back.

Please can you show a history of listened to tracks
I found something great and then lost it and just couldn't find me way back to it, this would be really helpful!

Import Text to Crate
This is a bit more "out there" but might be useful for quickly creating crates from your current iTunes (or other) metadata.
The idea would be to have an option to import a list of artists or labels and create a new crate from this. I haven't tried dumping a complete list of this data out of iTunes but I suspect it should be straightforward using existing applescripts. The tricky bit would be matching with actual artists/labels on beatport, as it would obviously be sensitive to slight differences in labelling and duplicate entries.
Perhaps there would need to be some…

Arrow Keys Take You To Previous/Next Page At Top/Bottom of List
This would be a minor improvement to the UI, so that you don't have to mouse to the previous/next buttons.
Thanks again,
James

Mark tracks that have already been listened to better
Instead of using tiny check mark, you could gray out an entire track that's already been listened to, or place a green dot next to it the way that Beatport Pro desktop app does.

Make the track preview window bigger
It's too small. There's all that space at the top that could be utilized.

Track Skipping Intervals
It would be awesome to customize the amount of time a tracks skips when we press the left/right arrows. If we can't set the skip time to a specific length of our choosing, which would be preferable in my opinion, then maybe a few options would be adequate. 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and 1 minute would be great options. Excellent work guys!

Sortable Tables & Custom Columns
- would like the ability to sort table columns
- would like to be able to add / remove table columns and have columns like "Genre" (Kind of like datatables)
87 votesCrates primarily displays feeds of tracks, which often contain hundreds/thousands of tracks. If you sorted by artist, label, or track name, the returned list wouldn’t be very useful.
Could you guys give some examples of columns you’d want to sort by, and in what context?
Crates now supports filtering by Beatport genre, release date, and musical key, so I think that might cover most of the use cases here.
In regards to adding or removing columns – I like that idea. What columns from Beatport would you want to be able to add, besides genre?

I would love the ability to actually customize my own keyboard shortcuts
The arrow keys may have been hot shit in 1996, but these days most peoples hands gravitate towards AWSD (Games) or ASDF (Typing).
The ability to set these ourselves would, for example, probably speed up listening and skipping through tracks.8 votes -
Allow an option for me to share my cart with anyone through a private URL
I've always wanted this feature. So that I can get friends to come in and listen to my cart and then give a thumbs up or thumbs down to the items in my cart.
